As top of the line American-made knives, Microtech Knives has always set the standard in precision cutlery, and that commitment extends to every part of their knives—from internals, handles, and blades, right down to the proprietary Microtech screws. The quality is in the details.
Every screw used on a Microtech knife is proprietary. A standard screwdriver or bit will not fit these exclusive screws. Over the years, the demand for bits that customers can use to perform basic maintenance on their Microtech knives has exploded. That need is now being met.
Introducing the Microtech Tool Kit—this set of bits features a handheld 303 Stainless Steel driver as well as 8 interchangeable bits, spanning various Microtech knife models and years. The Tool Kit has bits for: Ultratechs (older and newer models), UTX-85s, UTX-70s (older and newer models), Troodons, Combat Troodons, Diracs, Dirac Deltas, LUDTs, and Sigils; it also includes glass breaker bits for Ultratechs, Combat Troodons, and Dirac Deltas. The bits are sold only as a set and not individually.
When it comes to disassembly and maintenance of your knife, keep in mind that while you may purchase replacement external knife parts (based on availability), internal parts replacements must be performed in the Microtech facility by their professional technicians.
It does require some force to unscrew through the Red Loctite that Microtech uses on all their knife screw holes, and it is important to keep in mind that the handle is made of aluminum. The chassis can be stripped, which requires a handle replacement that is not under warranty. We advise caution in all disassembly endeavors and recommend customers who are not confident to send the knife to Microtech and let them take care of any issues they may be having.
