The Anax folder from Microtech was one of the standout knives introduced at the 2014 BLADE Show in Atlanta. It is an integral frame lock knife that's machined from a solid billet of 6Al4V titanium.
As is the case with any knife from Tony Marfione, the Anax is loaded with an array of features that give it an edge over other knives. The reasoning behind the integral handle is the idea that fewer parts adds greater reliability to the knife. In that same vein, the lock bar is serviceable and has a hardened 17-4 steel tip.
The tri-tone finished Bohler Elmax steel blade has a fuller groove for one-hand opening: a simple detail that adds to the sleek, overall appearance of the Anax knife. The blade rides on a ceramic bearing pivot that is supplemented with an added plate for super-smooth action that won't fade over time. The machined titanium pocket clip features a pocket-friendly and secure silicon nitride ball bearing, which Todd Begg is noted for creating.
Anax is the ancient Greek word for a military leader or "king" and it's also the genus of the Emperor Dragonfly which inspired some of the design of this knife as seen with the machined dots on the back of the handle and leading down to the exclusive decorative stinger lanyard.
This knife comes in a premium Marfione Custom box that includes a certificate of authenticity and zippered Marfione pouch with Dagger patch.
