Medford USMC FF S35VN, Stonewashed Blade, PVD Ti. Handle

The Medford USMC Fighter Flipper is a cool pocket knife, based on the famous fixed USMC-fighters knife. Greg Medford turned this iconic design into a decent pocket knife. You open it with the flipper, or the royal thumb slot. The large handle is made from titanium and like with the fixed version the handle has been enhanced with grooves. In between the titanium scales you will find a titanium backspacer which is placed on the handle like a type of 'buttcap'. According to Medford this is extremely difficult and expensive to produce, because it is difficult to clamp it in a milling machine and because the tolerances are very strict.

The blade is made from CPM S35VN steel. The hollow grind on the blade was applied by hand. This is a unique feature: only a rare few producers apply a hollow grind by hand. When opened a solid framelock keeps the blade in place. Medford pressed the stop-pin in the blade. As a result it symmetrically leans against the handle. This adds strength.
